My name is Rachael and I live in the beautiful town of Cockermouth, on the edge of the lake district.

As you can see from my photo I have two major passions in life. First is my extreme love of Disney and second is my obsession with baking. 

My love of baking stems from early childhood. Every year my mum would create the most magical birthday cakes, pouring her love, time and attention into everything she created and this is something that I aspire to in each and every bake. She is and continues to be my inspiration and biggest supporter.

A little bit about our name....The word Meraki comes from the modern Greek language. It's used to describe doing something with love, creativity and soul. In summary leaving a little part of yourself in the thing you've created. 

I've always been an artistic individual and believe that cake decorating allows me to express my creative side, however, I am also a firm believer that a cake should taste every bit as good as it looks. 

For years I have been a hobby baker, It's only in 2021 that I decided to take the plunge and turn my hobby for baking into a business. One that I could run alongside my main career as an accountant, in the hopes that one day I may be able to make baking my full time employment.  In the words of Walt Disney

"All our dreams can come true, if we only have the courage to pursue them"
